Could a pharmacist help first?
Pharmacists treat many minor illnesses free on the NHS. No appointment is needed. This covers the seven Pharmacy First conditions and the wider Minor Ailments Scheme. See what pharmacies can treat. For sudden eye problems, local opticians run the NHS urgent eyecare service (CUES).
How to book an appointment
Contact us online
Fill in a short online form to send us your request. The practice will get back to you by the end of the next working day with advice, an appointment, or a prescription.
Fill in an online formAvailable Monday to Friday, 8am to 6:30pm.
Important: Please note:
We currently have no access to book appointments via the NHS App or Patient Access. Please request an appointment using our online form or call us.
Important: Urgent appointments
We offer urgent appointments with our Advanced Nurse Practitioners and GPs each day. If you need to be seen urgently, call us as early as possible and tell the receptionist it's urgent.
When the surgery is closed, call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk. For mental health crises, call 111 and select option 2, available 24/7 and free. For life-threatening emergencies, call 999.
Routine appointments
Routine appointments can be booked up to 28 days in advance. Use any of the three options above: phone us, come into the surgery, or fill in an online form.
If you'd like a specific doctor or a specific appointment type (face to face, telephone, or evening pre-bookable slot), let reception know when you call. Pre-bookable evening appointments run on Tuesday evenings, 6.30pm to 8pm.
How reception decides when you can be seen
We look at the information you give us and match your appointment to clinical need. Three priority bands:
Urgent, on the day
Problems that need to be seen the same day. Our Care Navigators will book you with the right doctor or nurse.
Within one to two days
Issues that should be seen soon but aren't same-day urgent. Booked into the first available slot in the next 48 hours.
Up to fourteen days
Routine, non-urgent appointments. Bookable in advance with the doctor or nurse of your choice where possible.
Nursing appointments aren't on this colour system - book those any time.
Types of appointment
Face to face
Come into the surgery to see a GP, nurse, or other healthcare professional in person.
Telephone
A GP, Nurse or other healthcare professional will call you at a scheduled time. Good for advice, results, and follow-ups.
When the doctor or nurse will call you
If you've been booked a telephone appointment:
- Morning clinic — the call will come between 9:00am and 12:00pm
- Afternoon clinic — the call will come between 2:30pm and 5:00pm
Keep your phone with you. If you miss the call, they'll normally try once more before moving on and may also send you a message. Calls may show as withheld or from an 0300 number.
If you need help with your appointment
Please let the practice know if:
- You'd prefer a face-to-face or telephone consultation
- You need an interpreter
- You have any access or communication needs
- You need a downstairs consultation room
Cancel or change an appointment
If you can't make your appointment, please call us on 01270 441672 so we can offer the slot to someone else.
Missed appointments cost the NHS time and money. Please cancel if you can't attend.
Home visits
Home visits are for patients who are housebound or too unwell to travel to the surgery. To request one, call us on 01270 441672 before 10am if possible, so the Advanced Community Practitioners can plan the day's visits.
A doctor will call you back to discuss your symptoms first. In some cases a phone consultation is enough; if a visit is needed, you'll usually be seen the same day.
For full details of when home visits are appropriate and what to expect, please call us.
Musculoskeletal team
We have two Advanced Musculoskeletal Practitioners: Alex Roberts (Mondays) and James Fau-Goodwin (Wednesdays). They diagnose symptoms and give expert advice. They can order scans if needed.
They see sprains, strains, sports injuries and arthritis. They also treat problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons and bones. That includes back and neck pain, and nerve symptoms like pins and needles.
Our doctors also run clinics for joint injections and minor surgery. If you're eligible, we'll add you to a waiting list. We'll then contact you with an appointment.
Phlebotomy service
Blood tests are an important part of diagnostic care. We run phlebotomy clinics on site for patients who can't easily travel to Leighton Hospital.
| Monday | 1pm to 3.45pm |
| Wednesday | 1pm to 3.45pm |
| Thursday | 10.40am to 12.45pm |
To book at Leighton Hospital, visit patientconnect.uhnm.nhs.uk. You'll need a blood form from a GP to take with you.
Extended hours
Pre-bookable extended hours appointments run on Tuesday evenings, 6.30pm to 8pm. Book up to 4 weeks ahead by phone, online, or at reception.
During extended hours, press the intercom to the right of the main entrance. A member of staff will let you in. You can't collect prescriptions or other documents after 6.30pm on these evenings.
Crewe GP Hub appointments
Hub appointments are offered in Crewe on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. You can see a GP, the musculoskeletal team, or have a phlebotomy appointment.
Ask your practice receptionist who can book you in.
Clinical Team usual sessions
These are the days each team member usually works. Days can shift when a doctor is on the duty rota or covering leave. Check with reception if you need a specific doctor or nurse.
