About this service
Your antenatal care is led by the Weaver Team of midwives from Leighton Hospital. Antenatal appointments take place at the hospital or with the community midwifery teams, not at the surgery. We stay involved in your wider care throughout your pregnancy and see you and your baby after the birth.
What it covers
- Referral into the midwifery service when you tell us you're pregnant
- Antenatal appointments at the hospital or with the community teams
- Risk assessment and referral to consultant-led care where needed
- 6-8 week postnatal check for you and baby at the surgery
- Help accessing the new-baby checks and immunisation schedule
How to access this
Tell us as soon as you know you're pregnant and we'll refer you into the midwifery service. The Weaver Team then arranges your booking-in and antenatal appointments. If you've had complications previously, mention this early so the right referrals happen from the start.
