About this service

The NHS Health Check is a free check-up for adults in England aged 40 to 74 who don't already have a long-term condition such as heart disease, diabetes, or kidney disease. It looks at your risk of these conditions and gives you practical advice on staying well. You're normally invited once every five years.

What it covers

  • Blood pressure, height, weight, and a cholesterol check
  • Questions about your lifestyle, family history, and any symptoms
  • A personal assessment of your risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, and dementia
  • Practical advice and support on any changes that would lower your risk

How to access this

If you're eligible, we'll invite you when your check is due, so you don't need to do anything in the meantime. If you think you're due one and haven't heard from us, contact reception.
