Non-NHS Services
Some services aren't covered by our NHS contract and attract a fee. Examples include private medicals, insurance forms, HGV/taxi licence medicals, and to-whom-it-may-concern letters.
About this service
GPs are funded by the NHS to provide medical care. Some other services - mostly forms, letters, and medicals for non-medical purposes - sit outside that contract and we charge a fee for them. Fees follow the BMA recommended rates.
What it covers
- Private sick notes (for the first 7 days; NHS fit notes are free after that)
- Insurance and mortgage application reports
- HGV, PCV, and taxi licence medicals
- Adoption and fostering medicals
- To-whom-it-may-concern letters for employers, schools, gyms, etc.
- Firearms certificate reports
How to access this
Ask reception for the current fee list and the form for the service you need. Payment is usually in advance. Help us by filling in basic details on the form yourself first (name, address, dates of absence or illness) before handing it over. This is private work, not NHS, so it may take several days - we aim to complete most non-NHS requests within 28 days of receipt.
